The Opera "Prometheus"
Τhe opera premiered at the grand opening event for the China-Greece Culture Year in Nanjing, which was broadcast to millions of viewers on China's Television Network.
Performed this summer in Katakolo by the tenor Yiannis Christopoulos and ERT's Contemporary Music Orchestra, "Prometheus" was specially commissioned by the City of Nanjing to build a cultural bridge between ancient Greece and modern China.
The myth of Prometheus was brought to life through the vivid storytelling of writer Effie Panagopoulo and the powerful compositions of composer George Voukanos.
The performance seamlessly blended ancient Chinese Kunqu Opera "The Peony Pavilion," performed by renowned singer Xi Xiaotian, and Chinese composer LiHeng's work "Hymn to Time & Space" to create a harmonious cultural exchange.
The project featured in the video is just one example of the impact we are making in the preservation and promotion of our cultural heritage.
